Hangman Creek. Latah Creek, also known as Hangman Creek, is a large stream in eastern Washington and north central Idaho in the United States. The creek flows northwest from the Rocky Mountains to Spokane, where it empties into the Spokane River. It drains square miles (1, km2) in parts of Benewah and Kootenai counties in Idaho, Spokane. Hangman’s Creek Ranch is located 16 miles east of Big Timber and is accessed off Interstate 90 by exiting at Greycliff. Access to the property is superb. From the Interstate exit, one travels approximately four miles north on the Lower Sweet Grass Road, a paved county road that crosses the Yellowstone River, and then about four miles east on Deadman’s Canyon Road. The Hangman (Latah) Creek Watershed Management Plan (WRIA 56) was funded by a grant (# G) provided through the Washington State Department of Ecology as authorized in the Watershed Planning Act (Chapter RCW).
